Design and Function

The Hitachi C12FDH miter saw is designed to be easy to use but to also be versatile. It is designed for easy miter adjustments for angles between zero and 52 degrees to the left and right. The angle of the cutting blade can easily be changed which is useful for creating miters in crown molding and other trim jobs.

The bevel scale has a range from zero to 48 degrees from the left and right and makes it possible for the users’ materials to stay in place while the saw head is flipped to make other cuts. The saw head bevels located to the right or left also provide more security for the materials being cut which allows for more cutting accuracy and efficiency. For more precise adjustments and for more difficult jobs the micro-bevel adjustment knob if perfect for dialing in the precise angle that they want without the weight of the saw head interfering with the accuracy of the cut. The blade, itself, is 12 inches long and is designed for delicate trim and woodwork jobs. The pivoting aluminum fence allows for accurate cutting when vertical cutting and also for cutting large pieces of material. Some users have noted that the bevel gauges do not always read the same, for example if one gauge says 20 degrees the other may have a different number for the degrees. However, many users have found ways around this issue and have found that they can adjust the bevel arrows by loosening the screws on the bevel gauges to adjust the arrows to the right degree so that they match. They can then re-tighten the screws so that the arrows stay on the degree needed.

Many users have found that they can simply take the saw out of the box and use it right away and that the saw and the fences are squared and lined up well. Some have found that the vertical alignment may be off a little right out of the packaging but that it is easily adjusted. Other users have also noticed that the flip-over fence did not line up and is a couple of millimeters off but that it too is easily realigned.

Laser Marker

The Hitachi C12FDH features a Laser Marker System. The laser can be activated before the blade is in motion and allows for the users to get the exact alignment and blade placement needed for precise jobs. The laser can be adjusted to suit the different needs that different projects have. To use the laser marker system the users simply have to line the laser up with the mark that they have made on the piece of material they wish to cut and the saw blade will then make a cut along that line as guided by the laser. It is important to note that the laser follows the line that the user makes so if the marks they make are off or the measurements are wrong than the cut will also be off. Users of the laser marker system have noticed that laser is great and since it is adjustable it makes it great for different jobs, but they have also noticed that it is hard to adjust the laser as it has to be done with a wrench instead of with a knob.

Those that have purchased the laser have used it for different projects but those that have used it to do crown molding have found that the saw usually exceeds their expectations. They have also noticed that the laser is lined up right out of the box and that it works well for home projects.

The Hitachi C12FDH also features a 15 amp motor that has a no load speed of up to 4,000 rmp which allows for a smooth, easy, and quick cut through different work materials. There is also a splinter guard located behind the fence which increases safe cutting and reduces tear-out for cleaner, and more finished cuts. The horizontal handle is designed to reduce vibration and to also reduce slippage. The base of the saw is large which provides added support and balance which prevents materials from warping it also has a built-in clamping system that helps keep materials that they are working on in place. The saw also comes with a dust collection bag and consumers that have purchased the dust bag have found that it actually works well and does a good job of collecting the dust produced from using the saw.

Many that have bought the Hitachi C12FDHsaw have found that they can switch out the blades for different projects that may require a larger or sturdier blade than the 12 tooth blade that comes with the saw.
